The name Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè is derived from the Iron Elvish language, as Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè was founded by Lemtodea Gadshèdo, who was culturaly Iron Elven.

Overview

Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè was founded durring the early 12th century in fall of the year 1146, by Lemtodea Gadshèdo. The establishment of the new community went well, though many minor issues had to be solved as time went on. This was enough to delay construction and push back the formal opening ceramony, leading to some embarisment for Lemtodea Gadshèdo.

Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè was built using the conventions of Iron Elven durring the early 12th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature plaster covered brickwork used to form structures with an emphasis on symmetry, proportion, geometry and the regularity of parts. Orderly arrangements of columns, pilasters and lintels, as well as the use of semicircular arches, hemispherical domes, niches and aediculae can be found everywhere such that only size of building and yard can be used to measure the general prosparity of a given building's owners due to a general wealthy feeling the style gives off.

Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè is buildings have been located at convienant points along the swamp Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè was built upon. Navigating the town is therefore a little chalanging as the distance between buildings verris greatly and the crampt flagstone streets flow where they are able to be made rather than folowing the most convienant paths. The town lacks any defencive features, though certainly constructing even a simple fence or digging a ditch is at the forefront of the 's mind. At least, one would hope so.

Right off the bat Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè hits you in the face with its success. Everyone, even the peasants, are dressed in well made clothing. Every tool and implement you can see is finely made, and people will boast to you as obvious strangers of the wonders which can be found in their markets. More interestingly is a total lack of beggars, and plenty of new buildings are going up even as you speak. Somehow this town has come into quite a lot of wealth, and recently from the looks of things. It’s easy to see where their wealth comes from the more you look arround. Every aspect of the town has been developed with care and great thought. The people themselves act deliberately and with care in even the simplest of daily actions.

Civic Infrastructure

Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè's parks.

Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè.

Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè has a Department of Firefighters, which is responsible for organizing fire fighting efforts during a fire and enforcing local ordinances relating to fire safety.

Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè's natural decorations nor waterways.

Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè has a Guild of Roadworkers, who are responsible for maintaining the roadways and public paths within town. They also have the duty of enforcing all civil laws relating to the roadways.

Cultural Notes

Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known for its fluid and florid elaborate style, comprising ornate, asymmetric designs and pastel shades. It is often considered to be a playful, light style, which made exuberant use of curves and emphasized subtle asymmetry in the general shape of its structures. Walls, ceilings and moldings are decorated with numerous interlacing of curves and counter-curves based on the shapes of ‘C’ and ‘S’, along with shell forms and other naturalistic shapes.

The Woghemoth near Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves long periods of drunkenness to channel Elven High Magic energies of tier 1 via recitation of poetic epics.

Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè is home to some form of natural wonder. It could be a hot spring, or an especially enchanting glade, or a particular vista. Whatever it is, it's such a lovely attraction that Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè sees its fair share of tourists every year from all across Eyom. Consequently, its residents speak many languages at a functional level.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century an up-welling of water from beneath the earth caused Waterway Flemhampton to surge and overflow its banks. The resulting flood was isolated to the area around Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè, which was swallowed by the waters for several days. Shêvi-píîya Dêtîkè lost 210 people, 225 livestock, and 52 buildings in the disaster. The disaster is remembered as the Mourning Drownings.
